I’m not easily distracted, but if I could manifest my perfect distraction, it’d look a lot like her.
When did I say that? I’m a romance reader. I have a thing for assholes.
Ryan is a basketball player and definitely a broken hero. And Indigo (Indy) is just as broken in her own way. They met when she was at a low point, emotionally a mess, and because of her attitude and chaos, Ryan didn’t like her at first. But after Indy hit rock bottom and needed a place to stay, their story really began. They started falling for little things about each other, but both kept ignoring their feelings. Ryan kept being an emotionally closed off jerk because of his history , and Indy stayed messy.. But under all that tension, the connection between them kept building and you could feel it on every page.
“You should never have to beg someone to be ready for a future,”
-Ryan
They hated each other at first but slowly, they started to heal one another. Ryan was actually a really kind MMC. Even when they were not together, he still opened doors for her, made her vegan breakfast, and showed he genuinely cared. What started as a fake dating setup turned into something real, because his actions were never fake. He saw her, supported her, and quietly showed up in all the ways that mattered.
“Not so fast. If I’m going to even consider taking you to this wedding, I’m going to need to turn you into one of my book boyfriends first.” That earns a raised brow. “Oh, come on. If we’re going to be acting, we may as well go all in. Do you know how to flare your nostrils in anger?” My breakfast almost comes back up. “What?” “If you see me across the room, talking to another man, I need you to stare intently then flare your nostrils. Or grind your molars together and tic your jaw.” “Blue—” “Do you know how to growl?” “What?” “Yeah, I don’t really know what that’s supposed to sound like, but every one of my book boyfriends is big into growling. Oh! And can you darken your eyes?” “Darken my eyes?” “Yeah. When you pretend to get angry or act really turned on, can you darken your eyes?” “No, I can’t fucking darken my eyes. What the hell are you reading?”
Isn’t she just like all of us? Hahaha she was a total bookworm! There was even a scene where she showed Ryan one of her books, and he actually got into it too. And the best part? It was a dark romance! That moment was great. Also he said that this scene was the hottest scene that he read.
“You know that jersey you’ve got with my last name on it? When you see it hanging there in your closet, let it serve as a reminder to you, that soon enough, it’ll be her last name too.”
-Ryan
Go get her, Ryan, ma boy He was seriously down bad for her poor guy. He carried so much trauma from past relationships, the real kind. But still, he tried to overcome it for her. And Indy? She started to believe in love again because of him. He didn’t just touch her heart he helped her heal, inside and out. Love is complicated like that you can be someone’s healing and, at the same time, their pain. The same love that saves you can also scar you. He did that kind of effect on her
After this book, I’m hooked. The rest of the series is a must…
