Hard to Take By Piper Lawson, Denver Kodiaks #2 SHORT REVIEW

But it’s the glint of gold next to the packet that has the breath sticking in my chest. It’s my missing earring. The one I left in his bed.

Brooke: It must have fallen off. Waffles probably grabbed it and left it in your bed for you to find.

Miles: Waffles can’t jump that high.

It’s a book series I read the second book and I’ll probably read the third as well. But honestly, I feel like the story could’ve been just one book with 400 pages. Maybe two at most. I think I started to get a little bored, maybe because I’ve realized I prefer shorter stories with slow burn and a satisfying happy ending. I’m not really into overly long reads filled with too much drama especially when it drags. That’s just not my vibe, and now I know that. I wasn’t addicted to this series. It’s not bad at all, actually a good book but I don’t think it’s a must read. Especially with the spice level being a 2, which felt like a minus for me. It’s like… the scenes are there, but you don’t feel the depth. So now I know: I either want soft & sweet (spice level 1) or full-on heat (level 4 or 5)—nothing in between.

I love the way he looks at me. As if I’m at the center of every fantasy he’s ever had.

She’s every wet dream I’ve ever had.
