My Return To The Walter Boys By Ali Novak, My Life With The Walter Boys #2 SHORT REVIEW

This close, every breath I took smelled of his cologne. It made me want to grab him by the front of his shirt and—

When I glanced at him over my shoulder, Cole leaned forward and pressed his lips to mine.

When he drew my bottom lip between his teeth and bit down, electricity zipped through my veins. Desperate for more, I tugged on Cole’s hair. He responded by grasping hold of my waist and squeezing. “Come here,” he rasped and gently hauled me over the center console. It took a bit of maneuvering, but once I was straddling his lap, he captured my mouth in another fervent kiss that stole the breath from my lungs. His fingers toyed with the bottom of my shirt, occasionally daring to slip underneath, but it wasn’t until Cole’s lips left mine and started trailing down the side of my neck that my addled brain kicked into gear. Oh my God! What the hell am I doing?

That’s it… They were down bad for each other. Honestly, they had been since the moment they met. But in this book, it was just about them no love triangle, just push and pull. Jackie kept running away. And girl… how could you run from a guy like Cole? Freaking cool Cole. Freaking sweet Cole. And Cole he kept trying. Poor guy. It felt like this endless cycle of kissing and running, kissing and running again. Jackie hesitated because she felt like she wasn’t ready, like she didn’t deserve that kind of love in this situation. Like she did not deserve to be happy after dead of her family. But Cole? He was such a sweetheart. He tried everything. He just wanted her to see that he was worth staying for.

“It’s just…you’re like Cinderella—always running away from me.”

-Cole

As I said push and pull. I love that kind of chemistry, so I really enjoyed it. Honestly, it might feel slow or even boring to readers who prefer fast-paced stories. But I love a good slow burn, so feeling all their emotions and tension was perfect for me. With that much chemistry, I was kind of hoping for some make-out scenes or pre-intimacy moments just something to match the build up. If there’s going to be a third book, I’d love to see them grow even closer and explore their desire more. I know it’s a young adult series, but I’m hoping for a spice level around 2.5 to 3 out of 5.

“Sweet dreams,” he replied, his tone saccharine and mocking.
“Screw you.”
“Isn’t that Cole’s job?”

-Isaac

Actually, I’m a huge fan of the main storyline, but in this book, we got to learn so much more about Isaac too and I really liked that. I enjoyed the way the other characters talked about Jackie and Cole. It was like everyone knew what was going on between them. Even his mom and dad could see it. Also they caught on a bed omg.

“I could help you.” He launched himself off the bed, took my hands in his, and kneeled at my feet. “On the days that are hard. I want to help, Jackie. You just need to let me.”

-Cole

“I can keep you warm.” Cole’s voice was barely a whisper in my ear, but it was enough to make me jump. Heart racing, I turned to face him with a half-hearted glare. “You should ask Isaac what happens to people who startle me, Cole. Next time, my instincts might kick in, and I won’t be held responsible for any damage done to your pretty face.” He smirked at this. “You think I’m pretty?” I rolled my eyes. “You think you’re pretty.” “I think you’re pretty.”

Fucking sweet cole.com

I stepped inside and— My mind short-circuited, and I couldn’t process what I was seeing: Cole lying on his back in my old bed, bare-skinned and cheeks flushed, the sheet riding dangerously low on his waist and his hand moving beneath the thin material. Our eyes met, and his widened in shock as he scrambled to pull up the sheets. “What the—” “Oh shit, I’m so sorry,” I exclaimed, slapping a hand over my eyes. “Morning, Jackie,” Cole said, his tone shifting to light and casual, like I hadn’t just walked in on him jerking off.

OMG, that part was the real diamond of the book! I loved the teenage awkwardness the real excitement, the blushing, the tension. I got excited reading it. I even felt shy myself! It was so sweet, especially because Jackie was so pure and easily embarrassed, and Cole was just… cool. I bet he secretly loved the way she got shy around him

“Honey, you need to get up,” she continued, the door creaking as she pushed it open. “Rugby practice starts in—” Katherine cut herself off when our eyes met. Three agonizingly long seconds passed as she assessed the situation. Either he had the world’s worst timing or a built-in threat detection system, because Cole chose that exact moment to wake. “Don’t get up yet,” he said as he pulled me back into his arms, voice still rough with sleep.

It was kind of funny, and I loved it. I’ll definitely reread it—especially if there’s a third book!
